BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS

SERIES OF 13 CHARCOAL DRAWINGS ON PAPER

VARIOUS FORMATS

2020

The first and last images of a film form a threshold between the time of the fiction and that of the spectator. They are the ones that give the signal to consent to the suspension of disbelief, and frame the experience of film.

In this series of drawings, they are taken out of context in order to think of the exhibition space as having the potential for fiction to appear

The drawings, for their part, tell their own story, traced from left to right, revealing the beginning and end of each stroke, right down to the change of charcoal stick, a natural material whose black can range from bluish to brown.
