FEET
COLOURED PENCIL ON PARTICLE BOARD

I asked an archaeologist why the feet of animals depicted in rock engravings were often missing, and he replied that it was because they were hidden in the grass. It wasn't possible to capture everything. The history of animal drawing is full of tricks used by artists to capture as much as possible, and more than is possible. Here I have drawn the feet of an ibex from a photograph taken of a stuffed specimen, set in the position of a living one. This drawing is therefore a fiction, in the true sense of the word.
